Socks For Every Adventure

Posted by Team NZNC on 4th Oct 2023

Socktober is underway! If you’ve been following along with what we’ve been getting up to for a while, you’ll know that October isn’t a typical month here at New Zealand Natural Clothing. It’s something a lot more special.

What might read as October on your calendar, is Socktober for us. We’re experts on all things socks. And, in the month of October, we make it our mission to ensure that you and your wardrobe are up to speed.

While all socks will have their own benefits, they are most definitely not all the same. The socks that will keep your feet cool and comfortable while you’re out tramping are not the same as the socks that you would need for cosy nights in front of the fire with your loved ones.

Today, we will give you a healthy dose of education and inspiration with the help of our new slogan, ‘On The Farm, On The Go, On The Slow’.

By the end of the blog, you’ll have a list of socks that can support you for every adventure. If you’re in need of some new socks for your adventures, look no further!

Or, if you’re like us and your sock drawer is spilling over, keep this blog in your back pocket for your favourite sock enthusiast. I know we’ll have something to fit the bill.

Let’s jump in!

On The Farm

When you’re out on the farm getting things done, you need a sock that works as hard as you do. Here are some of our favourite socks that will give you all of the support you need on the farm.

First up, the original Norsewear Farm Fleck Wool Blend Sock. This sock is a classic Kiwi icon; having been in production for more than fifty years, you can be assured that this is one sock that has your back.

Farmers, tradespeople and hard workers across the globe love this iconic sock. And it’s no surprise - Norsewear has carefully designed and constructed this sock to ensure it provides nothing less than rugged performance and durability.

Made from 70% wool for warmth and 30% Nylon for longevity and durability, you may have just met your new farmhand.

Next on our hitlist for hard workers, we have another Norsewear Classic - The Gumboot Merino Blend Work Sock.

These socks are designed to be extremely robust and suitable for steel-toe boots and wellies. To keep your socks in place, the heel and toe of the shoe have additional padding, and the sole has arch support. Providing you with excellent wearability, warmth, and comfort.

The Gumboot Merino Blend Work Sock is made from 55% Merino, 25% Nylon and 20% Acrylic. This combination can only be described as exquisite for a working sock. The merino will keep you warm, yet cool and comfortable. At the same time, the Nylon and Acrylic work together for the durability factor of your dreams.

If you’re looking for something that will keep you comfortable while providing you with rugged durability, you must look no further than the Ranger Woollen Work Sock.

The sock’s construction includes a double-density sole, which is great if you’re outside working on hard surfaces. The interior is strategically zoned with the upper foot and calf cushioning made of lighter-weight terry cloth.

When it comes to a sock that can keep you warm, comfortable and working hard, regardless of where you are, the performance of this sock is second to none. 70% Merino Wool paired with 30% Nylon for durability and a double-density sole means you’re in for the smoothest working season you’ve ever experienced.

On The Go

Here at New Zealand Natural Clothing, we believe your socks are just as important as your jacket, jumper or jeans. The clothes that you wear are a reflection of you! When you’re on the go, you deserve a sock that is as functional as it is stylish. Here are our current top three picks:

Your life shouldn’t be all work and no play. Your socks shouldn’t be either. The Womens Daisy Merino Wool Sock gets the combination just right.

This colourful dress sock hugs your feet to help prevent squiggle down, enhancing comfort and extending the life of your new favourite pair of socks, allowing you to focus on all of the wonderful things you encounter without so much as a worry about your feet.

They are knit in moisture-wicking merino wool combined with a small amount of lycra for stretch and comfortability.

Socks packed with heaps of colour and design aren’t for everyone and that’s okay. If you like a more neutral sock for your daily activities, we’ve got something just for you.

The Classic Merino Wool Dress Sock comes in three colours - black, charcoal and beige. A traditional, wonderful-feeling fine merino dress sock with 5% lycra to prevent “squiggle” in the sock, enhancing comfort and longevity.

The perfect sock for everyday wear? I think you might have just found it.

Our last recommendation for On The Go is the Short Multi Sport Merino Wool Sock. If you’re a fitness fanatic, you will know that your socks matter as much as the rest of your kit.

This sock, designed by Norsewear, is the ideal sock for a multitude of sports. They’ve been designed with you in mind - sporting high performance support with elastic insteps, reinforced soles with blister protection and a technologically advanced Y heel to keep the socks in place.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the sock is made with pure merino wool to keep your feet warm even when they’re wet.

Time to get on the pitch and play a game, eh?

On The Slow

If you’re anything like us, we treasure our moments where we can be On The Slow. The world moves so fast sometimes that it’s important to slow down, take stock and smell the roses. These socks will help you do just that.

The Possum Low Tension Health Socks by Duthie & Bull are ideal if you have health difficulties related to diabetes or poor circulation because it is designed without a top band to prevent constriction and compression.

Additionally, they include a terry bottom for your feet’s added comfort and cushioning, and the exclusive NZ possum blend wool keeps you up to 55% warmer than merino wool alone.

Who says that health can’t be stylish? This sock sports the iconic Norsewear snowflake logo, keeping you on trend and in optimum health.

If we’re talking about socks that are great for your health, the Lifestyle Plus II Mid Weight Merino Sock had to be centre stage.

LifeSocks are created to the finest standards with premium merino yarn and are suitable for diabetics, frequent travellers and great for general well-being. They were developed through years of research into podiatrist health to support healthy circulation.

This midweight sock is for everyday and anywhere, with a mid-calf height leg and a higher lateral stretch. The elastic support system keeps the sock in place with minimal compression, supporting you under the plantar arch region.

They’re even designed anatomically for your left and right foot! Who knew that science and socks could produce such a miracle?

Our site has such a brilliant range of Bed Socks that it would have been wrong to pick just one to showcase to you here.

From socks that will keep your circulation in tip-top condition to ultra-soft socks that will keep you warm and comfortable as they whisk you off to sleep, there is a bed sock for us all.
