The Women of New Zealand Natural Clothing

Last year, we shared a personal story for International Women's Day from Founder Julie and Marketing Manager Caitlin, also a mother-daughter duo.

This year, we wanted to do something different.

For International Women’s Day, we asked the women of New Zealand Natural Clothing to answer a few simple questions. What came back was a group reply. It was honest. United. Real.

And perhaps that says more than anything else.

What’s one woman who has shaped who you are today, and why?

Our Mothers - they're awesome!

Sometimes the simplest answers say the most. Strength, work ethic, humour, resilience, love — so much of who we are begins at home. The women who raise us, guide us and back us quietly shape the confidence we carry into the world.

What’s a challenge you’ve faced as a woman, and what did it teach you?

Pay inequality. Fight harder

There are still conversations to be had and progress to be made. And while change doesn’t always happen overnight, it does happen when women speak up, support one another and refuse to settle.

What’s a strength you’ve discovered in yourself over time?

Very few things cannot be solved with a little humour.

Resilience doesn’t always look serious. Sometimes it looks like laughter in the middle of a busy day. It looks like perspective. It looks like choosing lightness when things feel heavy.

What does being supported as a woman in the workplace look like to you?

Being seen and being heard.

It’s about respect. It’s about listening. It’s about creating a space where voices matter and contributions are recognised. At New Zealand Natural Clothing, we’re proud to have women across every part of the business — and we’re proud of the culture we continue to build together.

What does success look like at this stage of your life?

Work-life balance

It’s not always about titles or milestones. Sometimes it’s about being present. Having energy for family. Time for friends. Space to recharge. It’s about building a life — not just a career.

What advice would you give to your younger self — or to women coming up behind you?

Believe in yourself and eat more cake

Confidence takes time. Self-doubt is loud. But growth comes from backing yourself — even when you’re unsure. And yes — eat all of the cake.

One word that sums up what being a woman means to you.

Resilient

Today, we celebrate the women on our team, in our community, and reading this. Happy International Women’s Day — from all of us at New Zealand Natural Clothing.
